FUMC Hammond welcomes
Rev. Marissa Teauseau Horvath beginning July 1st

Marissa grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where she and her family joined Asbury UMC in Bossier City. Asbury is where Marissa began to explore a call to ministry while she was a high school student. One of her favorite memories from this time are the mission trips she took with her youth group that formed in her a deep love for mission and outreach.

Marissa attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. She graduated with a BA in Religious Studies and was an active participant in the Christian Leadership Center.

Marissa completed her Masters of Divinity degree at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. There, she served in internships as a geriatric hospital chaplain, a Children’s Home chaplain and religious life leader, and as a pastoral intern at Stone Mountain First UMC.

In June of 2016, Marissa was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. She has served as an associate pastor at Broadmoor United Methodist Church (Shreveport), First United Methodist Church of Alexandria, and Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church (New Orleans).

In October 2020, Marissa and Ted got married with a small group of family and friends and then celebrated with a reception a year later. They joke that they’ve gotten married to each other twice. They have a dog named Biloxi who is a “little quirky” but very entertaining.

Ted works in mission support for the federal government and loves his job. He has a degree in botany but it is Marissa who keeps the house plants alive (most of the time). Marissa loves to bake and craft, and enjoys running and exercising with friends. Ted is a wonderful cook and enjoys woodworking and home renovation projects.

Together they frequently play slightly complicated board games with their friends. Ted and Marissa also love traveling and have been to nine countries together. And are looking forward to many more adventures in the future.
